Small Business Websites
Should You Add a WhatsApp Button to Your Website?
Whether a WhatsApp button makes sense depends heavily on where your customers actually are — in some markets, it's the expected way to reach a business; in others, it's barely used at all.
Where it makes an obvious difference
In many countries, WhatsApp is the primary messaging app people already use daily, including for business inquiries. Adding a direct button removes the friction of switching between a contact form and a separate app — customers just tap and start typing in the app they already have open.
Where it adds little
In markets where WhatsApp isn't the dominant messaging platform, adding the button mostly just adds visual clutter without matching how customers actually prefer to reach out.
How to actually check
Look at how existing customers already contact you. If WhatsApp messages already show up regularly, formalizing that with a visible button on the site just makes an existing habit easier. If nobody's ever reached out that way, it's probably not the missing piece.
If you do add it
Treat it like live chat: only worth having if someone's actually checking and responding. An unanswered WhatsApp button is worse than not having one at all.
